When you stay with us, you're able to experience the very best of what golf in America is all about. Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club
& Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club give golfers access to two wonderful classic courses created by one of golf's master designers, Donald Ross, the architect also responsible for the famous courses of nearby Pinehurst.
Both Pine Needles & Mid Pines offer you championship venues with a long history in the golfing world. “Donald Ross lived in the Pinehurst area while they were being built and supervised their construction, which makes them very unique,” says Graham Gilmore, Director of Golf at the two resorts.
“Over the years, Pine Needles has received a little more recognition because of the USGA events that were played here,” Gilmore notes. In fact the 1996, 2001 and 2007 US Women's Opens were played at the course.
“But the courses are both equally as good,” Gilmore says. “Mid Pines is a championship classic in its own right and has a very interesting history. Julius Boros won the U.S. Open and a PGA Championship while serving as the golf professional at Mid Pines.”

Needles and Golfweek named the course to its list of America's Best Top 100 Classic Courses. Meanwhile, Mid Pines was awarded 4 stars by Golf Digest and was named No. 4 in America's Best State-by-State Public Access Courses by GolfWeek.
Don't let the publicity and prizes intimidate you. You're going to experience wonderful and playable golf at Pine Needles and Mid Pines. “Both are fun to play and challenging for any level of player,” says Graham Gilmore. “They're the kind of courses that you want to play again and again.”
